ICTM Math Contest at NIU

February 23, 2008

Region 13

Note: The contest will not be held at NIU but at two alternate locations.

One is the Antioch High School (1133 Main St., Antioch, IL) where the following schools will compete: Antioch, Lakes Community, Grayslake Central, Grayslake North, Mundelein, Round Lake, Lake Zurich and Libertyville.
Here is a link to a Google map.

The other is the Kaneland High School, where the following schools will compete: Geneva, Kaneland, St. Charles East, St. Charles North, and Lake Park. Here is a link to a Google map. School buses should park in the south or west lot at Kaneland, preferably the west lot (by Meredith Road) which is larger.

Some of the information below is specific to the Kaneland location. Schools competing at Antioch should contact Tim Hildner, thildner AT sequoits.com or the Antioch HS at (847) 395 1421 for further details.

We have a schedule for the contest at the Kaneland HS. Note that some proctor assignments might change somewhat before Saturday.

  • The coordinator of the contest is Peter Waterman, (815) 753-6730.
  • Participating schools should submit the names of students and their contest assignments online at the ICTM web site by Thursday, February 14 at 3:00 pm.
  • We are NOT planning to let schools make roster changes via our website this year. Please make sure to print a copy of your school's roster off of the ICTM site where you entered your students and contests, and note necessary changes on the bus the morning of the contest. You should then sign that copy as final, and hand it to the organizers in the contest headquarters as soon as you arrive on Saturday.
  • Names of the presenter and helper in the Oral competition, along with the other competitions in which they are participating, must be e-mailed to Peter Waterman by February 8.
  • Any changes in those entries after February 8 will require his permission.
  • The schedule of Oral competition times will not be altered to accommodate those late changes.
  • Each Division AA school is expected to provide two adults, besides the coach, to assist the host institution with proctoring and administering tests. It is helpful, but not necessary, that they be mathematics teachers.
  • Please remind your students that they are guests here and proper behavior is expected.
  • Coffee and donuts will be available for the coaches and proctors.
  • Snacks can be purchased from 11:00 - 1:30 in the Kaneland concession stand.
