Preparation of Proceedings Manuscripts

The proceedings volume is produced from camera-ready copies sent in by the authors. If you wish to use LaTeX, you can use the example file prepared by Tim Hesterberg, or the American Statistical Association macros.

Be sure that the document you produce follows the rules given below:

  1. Contributed papers should not exceed five pages and invited papers should not exceed ten pages. These pages include everything--- bibliography, tables, graphics, title, etc.

  2. Originals must be made by laser printer (not copies) on standard paper (8 1/2 x 11). Refer to item 5 below for a description of the typing area.

  3. Number the pages in light blue on the back of each page. Do not number the pages on the front.

  4. Center your title on the middle six inches of the first page, and list the authors and addresses under the title. If you cite support, do so in a footnote. Keywords and phrases are not required.

  5. There will be two columns on each page. The side margins are 3/4 inch to the left of the first column, 1/4 inch between columns, and 3/4 inch to the right of the second column. The typing area for each column is 3 and 3/8 inches wide. Text should begin 1 and 1/4 inches from the top of the page, and leave one inch at the bottom of the page. If possible, use right justification for each column.

  6. To ensure uniformity of appearance, use 10 point type, preferably computer modern or Times Roman.

  7. The manuscript should be single spaced. If you are familiar with TEX, this means a baseline skip of 12 points.

  8. The abstract should begin the first column.

  9. The publisher will number the pages and insert a running head outside the typing area. On a separate sheet of paper, please indicate your choice of running head.

  10. Other formatting is left to the discretion of the author(s).

A PostScript example of a correctly formatted paper is given here.

Camera-ready manuscripts should be mailed to:
