Sources of RFI in the home
In addition to the obvious ones like power line glitches,
bad grounding etc., consider these:
- computer networks (cabling, components); in particular a
loose cable modem connection
- computers with bad shielding
- light dimmers and fan controllers
- halogen bulbs when they get old
- fluorescent lights, ballasts
- LCD displays (esp. backlighting)
- some models of DVD players
- most modern chargers
- some uninterruptible power supplies
- radial alm saw from a lumberyard nearby
Note that many of these aren't really off until you unplug
them completely. So when hunting for RFI don't just flip
the switch - pull the plug.
