How to set up GroupWise forwarding ---------------------------------- One of the problems with Groupwise is that forwarding is broken: if set up the "normal" way, mail appears to have come _from your groupwise account_ and not from the original sender. In particular if you just hit "Reply", your reply will go to your GW account (and be forwarded back to you!). Here is a trick which we set up on our mail server to make this behave better. [note: the trick will not work if you try to forward directly to some other mailbox, such as gmail; it only works with math.niu.edu addresses] In your browser go to webmail.niu.edu and log in with your Novell username and password. Suppose your Math address is hyeon@math.niu.edu Click Options (Settings?), and the Rules tab. Create a new "rule" of type "forward", name it "fwd", and tell it to forward to hyeon%gw@math.niu.edu (the %gw piece is important, type it exactly as above). Save it. You will get a warning that it applies to all mail - that's OK, click save again. Then to delete forwarded mail from the GW mailbox, create a new rule of type "delete", call it "zap" so it's alphabetically after the first one (I'm not sure that matters, but just in case...) and save it. Again you'll get a warning about no criteria being defined, which is OK. If you want to keep copies of messages in the Groupwise mailbox, don't create the "zap" rule, but then you will have to check Groupwise from time to time and delete some email there, or else you will exceed their quota after a while. Test it by sending something from here to your GW address. Note that this only works for messages under 10 MB in size (but nobody should be sending email that large...)
