GRADING: Grades will be assigned on the basis of 650 points, with 3 hour exams worth 100 points each, quizzes and/or homework worth a total of 150 points, and the final exam worth 200 points. The final will be a comprehensive departmental examination, scheduled as a mass exam on Friday, December 11, 8:00-9:50 A.M. The last day for undergraduates to withdraw is Friday, October 17.
HONORS CREDIT: Honors credit is given via concurrent registration in Math 297. The grade in Math 297 will be determined as follows: homework 60%; one hour exam 40% each. The honors part of the course will cover additional sections in the text (6.5, 7.6, 9.2, 9.3) plus come additional related material.
SYLLABUS: The topics covered are contained in Chapters 6, 7, 8, 9, 12, and Section 10.4 of the text. Honors sections (Math 297) are listed below in bold type.
