I was Associate Professor of Mathematics at Northern Illinois University, but I have now moved to the University of Texas. NIU has graciously allowed me to maintain my web pages here.

- Research papers and preprints (in TeX, on algebra and topology).
- Materials related to the teaching of math.
- I maintain the Mathematical Atlas, which provides expository materials on mathematical subjects at the math major/graduate student level.
- Some applications of math, including posts and mail on music, games, astronomy, elections, etc., from a mathematical perspective.
- Questions and solutions to recent Putnam and other mathematics competitions.
- Surely you didn't come looking for a short biography of this illustrious person.
- Materials absolutely unrelated to what I get paid to do are indexed on a separate non-work page, including links to my kids and other family (and genealogy), other Rusins, bicycling, linux, etc.

If you need to discuss mathematics but can't figure out how to express the symbolism, perhaps you should start with the general math communication hints which I give my students. Mail accepted in European languages (ASCII or ISO-Latin) but please expect me to respond in English in general.
