GRADING: Grades will be based on your total out of 700 points:

  • The cut offs will be no higher than:
    • A: 630 (90%)     B: 560 (80%)     C: 490 (70%)     D: 420 (60%)
  • 3 semester exams worth 100 points each.
    • Exam1: Mon. Feb. 11
    • Exam2: Wed. Mar. 19 REVISED
    • Exam3: Wed. Apr. 23 REVISED
  • Comprehensive final exam worth 200 points:
    • Mon. May 12, 8:00 - 9:50 p.m. REVISED

  • Homework worth 40 points.
    • Each section will be graded out of two points based primarily on EFFORT:
        2: Essentialy complete    1: Partially attempted    0: Not a serious attempt
    • At least five homework scores will be dropped with remainder scaled to a score out of 40.
    • Each question should be stated so that the homework is readable without the text.
  • Quizzes worth 60 points.

  • Aleks Assessment worth 100 points:

  • Bonus Points: There will also be some attendence quizzes worth a total of 20 additional points. For students taking the majority of these, extra weight may be given to the final exam if this improves the overall grade.

    MAKEUPS: Students who are unable to take an exam because of documented illness or other unusual circumstances may request a make-up exam. For reasons other than a medical or other emergency, my permission must be obtained prior to the time of the regular exam.

    ACADEMIC MISCONDUCT: Please read the statement on Academic Integrity which appears in the Undergraduate Catalog, and which includes this passage: ``Students guilty of, or assisting others in, either cheating or plagiarism, on any assignments, quizzes, or examinations, will receive a grade of F for the course involved and may be suspended or dismissed from the University.''

    • Cell phones must be silent and not used during class or exams.
    • Children are not permitted in class. (Unless a registered student).
    • You are expected to arrive and depart class on time.
    • PDA's, graphing calculators, cell phones and text storage devices shall be stowed and not be visible during exams.
    • Talking or other communication between students is not permitted during exams.
