I do not have any impressive words, but I shall use my simple words. I remember very well the first time when Professor Necas and I met. That was right after my interview talk here at NIU. He came to me, hugged me and encouraged me. When he was in DeKalb, almost every weekend we worked in the department. On his way home, he usually stopped by my office for a short chat. This way I got to know him personally. In my opinion, he is not only an outstanding scientist, but also an excellent person in the general sense. He is always very honest, caring and kind. I attained several graduate topic courses that Professor Necas taught here. Almost during every lecture, he gave some historic remarks. They are very good, since they are from his fruitful scientific experience and adventurous life experience. I really enjoyed them. From our collaboration, I got to know even more how deeply he understood the topics on which he worked. Professor Necas is highly respected in the scientific community. More impressively, he always regarded helping young researchers as his duty. Many of his students are now excellent researchers, in Czech Republic and other countries. We young people are fortunate to have leaders such as Professor Necas. He frequently explained to me that to be successful, dedication is a necessity. Professor Necas himself is certainly a very convincing example, so close to us. He often recalled that he had used to work from 8:00 in the morning until midnight when he was young. Professor Necas worked very hard on a very difficult problem even when he was very sick. In a certain sense, God is not fair, since Professor Necas deserves much more time to live for. While I am prepared to work more with Professor Necas, he left us. It is definitely a huge loss for me, as for many people. We will miss Professor Necas a lot, and we will continue working.
